Welcome to the third annual Hecla Half Marathon & 10k, hosted by Lakeview Hecla Resort in support of The Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium.
Join us on October 13, 2018 for a run though one of the most scenic courses in the Interlake. Both courses finish with a 2km trail run next to Lakeview Hecla Golf Course and around Gull Harbor Point. After your race, enjoy a beverage in the Runner’s Lounge and take advantage of the mineral pools at Salka Spa, all included with registration!

Lakeview Hecla Resort is found on Hecla Island, MB. Take highway #8 from the north perimeter two hours north into Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park. Keep going until you see the sign for Lakeview Hecla Resort and turn right.
The 10k route takes you south past the North Shore Rd. and past the East Quarry where you’ll run next to the lake to the 10K turn around. On your return you’ll pass the East Quarry and return next to the golf course finishing with a 2 km trail run around Gull Harbour.
The half-marathon route encompasses the 10k route and takes you further south on Hwy 8 past the East Quarry. You’ll run next to the lake and follow the bike path all the way up to the turn around in Hecla Village, where you’ll pass by a museum of vesels and steam equipment on display from another era. On your return, you’ll see it all again from the other direction. You’ll finish next to the golf course with a 2 km trail run along the golf course and Gull Harbour.
The Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium (LWRC) Inc. was founded in August 1998 to coordinate scientific research on Lake Winnipeg. The LWRC was incorporated in Manitoba in 2001 and received charitable status in 2008. This organization studys the outbreak of Zebra Mussels on Lake Winnipeg and the detrimental impact they have to the ecosystem of the Lake and surrounding area and industries (ie fisheries).
