Meet Chef Mathew Wat.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Chef Mathew started working in the kitchen at the age of 10, right at the bottom as a dish-washer and worked his way up the culinary chain of command.

With a culinary background full of French influences, Chef Mathew creates food from ‘scratch’, making everything from homemade mayonnaise, cheese, and pastas to butchering and preparing meats and fish himself.

A strong supporter of the local community, Chef Mathew works with farmers and fisherman around Gimli to bring ingredients, expertise, and exceptional flavour back to the restaurant to share with all our guests at Seagulls!
